Pepper is over in the corner, sipping a cup of punch and just taking in the scene and trying not to wonder when/if Tony will appear.

"Careful," Christian grins, sidling up to her. "That's the less exciting punch. The one over there," he points and then hesitates before breaking out into a slow grin, "packs more of a punch." God that was lame, but he blames it on being around Aaron.

"I'll stick with this one for now, but thank you," Pepper says, amused despite herself. "I may have to keep an eye on certain people later."

"What?" He gives her a scandalized look, grooving in place to the music. "Don't tell me you're someone's designated driver. You do know no one's driving home tonight, right?" he teases.

Pepper laughs. "Well, let me just say that looking after Mr. Stark requires my full attention and wits."

"Ooh, you look after someone? That makes me think of this Law & Order I think it was that I saw once, with this guy who had an adult baby fetish. Your Mr. Stark isn't a guy like that, is he?" He reaches up to play with his necklace, raising his eyebrows in anticipation of her answer.

Pepper stares at him, completely and utterly speechless for once in her life. "No!" She manages to exclaim, once she's found her voice again. "Absolutely not."

Kirk happens to be wandering through, and who should he see? Why, his favourite person, of course. With a charming smile he stands next to her.

"Not much of a partier?"

"I'm afraid not," she answers, smiling warmly at him. "But they worked so hard, it seemed a shame to not come."

Tony looks snazzy, as per usual, and smiles a little when he sees Pepper.

"Miss Potts," he nods, sipping at his party punch. "Lovely to see you here."

"Mr. Stark." Pepper smiles happily, making her way over to him. Leave it to Tony to show up fashionably late (and look damnably handsome doing it). "I'm glad to see you."

Betty side-stepped up to the counter and shifted her weight to one leg, shyly tucking loose strands of hair behind her ear. She wasn't quite sure why she'd shown up, but here she was, trying --and failing-- to be sociable.

"Hello," she said awkwardly to Pepper with a tiny wave.

"Hello Betty," Pepper turns at the new voice and smiles. "It's good to see you. How are you doing?"

She really needs to get out more and let Jarvis handle Mr. Stark, she decides. There's not that much trouble he can get into, or so she hopes, and it would be so nice to talk to someone who's not, well, Tony.

"I'm alright," Betty says, debating whether this party will be survivable without a drink or two.

"I've been cooped up for a while," she shrugs, "This is the first social event I've been to besides Mr. Starks informal get-together. Being someone who is not apt to these sort of parties, I tend to avoid them. It makes meeting people difficult, but I'd rather that than a bad first impression."

"I know what you mean. I'm not much for parties myself, but they all worked so hard on putting this together. It seemed a shame not to come."
