Good evening. I am Lord Vetinari, Patrician of Ankh-Morpork. One of my clerks suggested I try out this particular system myself, and lent her technical understanding to my endeavors, before going off to reorganize the filing system. My clerks do this periodically. I refrain from inquiring as to their reasons, and the whole mechanism runs smoothly.
However, I shall set aside the unfathomable workings of the minds of bureaucrats, and come to my point - It is, I have found, rather difficult to engage in interesting mental games with those under your rule. They tend to let you win out of self-interest and fear. While I am very fond of both qualities they have little place at a debate table or in a board game. Outside of one's desire to win, naturally.
In this spirit, I am looking primarily for a conversation partner without a fear of scorpions. Or, at least, one who understands that there is no need to fear scorpions being applied to his or her person.
Oh, and please take no notice of the cane. It is merely to compensate for an old injury. Assassination attempts are such inconvenient things.
