I am on errantry, and I greet you...

Enter an young boy, smiling a warm smile. He looks profoundly normal and supremely at ease, and has a Spanish accent, strong enough to be noticeable, though not thick enough to make him hard to understand.

Hi. I’m Kit Rodriguez. A pause. It’s Christopher, really, but I hate that. I’m from a little town you’ve never heard of, but it’s in New York and it’s not far from Manhattan. I take the train in with my best friend, Nita, some days.

Nita’s great. There is a lot of feeling in that simple statement - something important that can’t be expressed aloud well.

I live with my pop and my mama and my sisters. The sisters are the scary part. He pulls an extremely sardonic face. They think I’m fun to torment.

Uh. I’m thirteen. I have a dog named Ponch. I like to fix things.

That’s all really.

The smile widens. What about you?

Kit is from Diane Duane’s Young Wizards series. I’m still getting a handle on him, so apologies for any blatant mistakes. And for the confused timeline. That second is so totally not my fault.
