Letter to Bertie Wooster

Jan 10, 2006 08:53

Bertie,

I am sorry. I cannot say that enough times. I knew the consequences of killing M. Jones, but the reality of it--having to watch you die--was more than I bargained for.

Is there anything you and Dr. Jekyll can do to keep him away? I am very much afraid of him, now that I've been so openly hostile to him. Without help, he would have hurt me far worse than he did.

I am tempted to fill this letter with justification for my actions, with reasons, but there is no justification. Killing Darcy Jones didn't undo what he did to my beloved. It didn't make it right, and was doubly a crime since it robbed you of life as well.

Can you forgive me?

In your debt,
Armand St. Just

*finished in the library on Tuesday afternoon, and send to Dr. Jekyll's house, addressed to M. Wooster*
