Eww, it's a planet

Why did she drag me here? May as well make the best of it. I'm Bel Thorne. I used to be a mercenary with the Dendarii. Then I did something stupid and Miles Miles?!? had to fire me. Now I live on a space station. Long story.

I did live there anyway. Now I'm stuck on this ball of dirt ( Read more... )

Lady?!? I'm a herm, you backward...

*gets hold of temper*

I know this dirtball isn't much but I guess it's your home. Isn't it?

You're from around here, technically. You fit in perfectly. Are you really sure you should be flaunting yourself like that?

Hello, Miss -

Sir -

Um. *pauses* I'm terribly sorry, but my typist says those are both wrong. I really don't mean to offend, I -

*casts about desperately for social conventions*

*gives up*

Hullo, I'm Harbert Brown. *big, light up the eyes grin* Pleased to meet you! Have you been to other stars, then? That must be terribly interesting! Why don't you like planets? There are so many new things to see - I should like a chance to see another planet, even though I certainly don't know everything about this one yet.

*smiles* At least you tried. Most don't. If you're trying to be polite Honorable Herm might do or just herm. I'm not that formal.

*snorts*

Not with my experiences.

Planets. They're just so dull. They stay in the same place. Herms were 'made' on Beta Colony but never accepted even there. So why should I like rotating balls of dirt?

Yeah, I've been to other stars. Been to this one before too. Mostly people are people. Places can be interesting, but people are more interesting. If you're not having to kill them, that is.

*sigh*

That was probably too much for your young ears. Maybe I'll be better at telling stories when I get old and gray.

Honorable Herm. *smiles* I'll remember that. *feels much better now that he can be polite*

People are certainly very interesting. *nods* I think plants and animals are interesting too - and the way the world works, and the way that planets move and change their surfaces, and the way that stars age... *blushes* I think everything is interesting.

Oh, no, not at all! *beams*

You're a nice kid. Smart too. You're wasted living on a single planet.
