Introducing...

Fair Luthien walked slowly through a meadow. The sky was blue and the wind smelled of summer. The tall grass reached her knees, although she didn't mind. She made her way through the meadow, having no idea where or why she was walking the way she was.

There was a small copse of trees at the edge of the meadow, and she started for it, wanting to ( Read more... )

And here come her grandsons, all magically grown up thanks to Gabrielle's cookies. They don't know her, but -- it's hard for them not to make direct associations.

Here are some boys, who are smiling and laughing, chasing each other happily. Teenaged, blond, Sindarin boys.

Enjoy.

Luthien spotted the boys, and even from a distance could pick out the similarities between them. She even noticed a bit of herself in them. This she felt slightly odd. She tried to remember, but her memory seemed foggy. She felt as if she knew these boys though, so she made her way towards them slowly.

The boys have paused in their chattering, and smile at each other, then at the lady, both of them bowing in the fashion of Doriath.

"So it is true," one of them gasps.

She looked at the boys, noticing a few features that looked like her own features. She said nothing though, and wondered if they were somehow distantly related.

"Lady." They straighten, and one of them approaches her. "We are the princes of Doriath. This is my brother Elurin, and I am Elured."

The boy talking is stern, serious, very focused. As if he was twice his age under his teenaged skin.

She curtsied to the degree necessary for their status. "A pleasure to meet you both." She said formally, eying the pair. "I am the Lady Luthien." She introduced herself.

The twin who remained behind grins very widely, and starts to speak, but his brother interrupts him.

"Luthien Tinuviel, born of Elu Thingol and Melian." He bows again, deeply. "Your legend preceeds you, Lady."

Elured isn't dumping millenia of history on his grandma. No matter how hot she might look.

And he smugly wants Arianna to see this. Wait. Does this mean he and Rin need permission to date? Crap.

She smiled at the boys. "What legend might that be?" She asked, wondering if the boys meant her quest with Huan.

"That you sung and retrieved the Silmaril from the Enemy, Lady, and that you chose a mortal life, so that you may remian with Beren Erchamion." The answer comes with evident pride.

Her smile widened. "It was worth giving up my immortal life." She said simply.

"So they say." The boy pauses, and says, simply, "And that you had a son, Dior, who wed Nimloth."

She nodded. "And my tale is still known in Beleriand?" She asked

"It is to those who were born of Dior and Nimloth, Lady." Quietly.

She smiled. "I am glad to know that my tale is still told." She said simply, eying the boys. She wondered how her son and his wife were, for she had not seen them both since her departure from the living world.

The boys look at each other, and one of them (it doesn't matter which) sighs.

"So it is, Lady. Now, if you will excuse us."

It bites. Their legendary grandmother looks pretty uninterested in her descendants.

"Wait." She said quickly. "If you please. I..." She hesitated. "You do look quite familiar." She said slowly. "Might you be descendants from perhaps one of my cousins, or myself?" She asked.
