Definately NOT Home

Jasper Hale walked through the front door of the Cullen house... so he thought.

But apparently he is very much mistaken because the entryway presented before him is neither surrounded by panes of glass nor ringing with the familiar tune of welcome that his wife, Alice, never neglected to give.  Hands clasped firmly behind his back, the once-soldier ( Read more... )

Alice was taking a leisurely stroll around the mansion, pacing silently through the halls, lost in thought as she often seemed to be these days without her beloved husband. As she nears the entrance hall a familiar voice penetrates her solitude and she stops in her tracks.

"Jasper?" She whispers in disbelief. Peeking her head around the corner, she catches a glimpse of her solemn southern boy stiffly and awkwardly gazing around the hall.

"Jasper!" Alice cries, running to Jasper with the speed of a vampire and a swift gracefulness that would make a sparrow ashamedly hang up his wings and forsake flight.

"Alice!" Jasper's head whirled around in time to spot his wife and scoop her up into his arms. "Thank God!"

Instantly, he felt relief wash over his whole body and he held her tighter. Alice was his protection from the outside world. Her constant radiation of hope kept him afloat.

If it were physically possible, Alice would have tears in her eyes. She clings tightly to Jasper, trying to convince herself that he's actually here and that this isn't some unfair dream.

"I missed you so much..." She whispers so soft and low only he can hear it. "I thought I would never see you again."

Lucivar's gotten better about the whole vampire thing. But that doesn't stop him from turning a corner and stopping, going tense and nearly snarling right off the bat. He does fan out his batwings slightly and shifts to a deceptively relaxed stance.

"Just got here, did you?"

Instinctively, Jasper crouched to the ground in a defensive movement. He curled his lips back a bit and snarled warningly, "Where is here? And who are you?"

"Lucivar Yaslana," he says, cool and even, quietly calling in his Jewels. "And the name of this place won't mean anything to you."

A few moments after Jasper calls out, there's a low rumble from the kitchen, where a wolf the size of a small pony has his teeth bared, fur puffed up and is looking thoroughly angry. A moment later a boy appears behind him, frowning at Jasper with his eyes narrowed. Something Grey Wind doesn't like generally means nothing good for him.

"Who are you?" Flat and wary. Grey Wind keeps his eyes narrowly fixed.

At the sight of the wolf, Jasper tenses but finds it of really no consequence. Nothing compares to Jacob's tribe. The boy following him isn't terribly threatening either.

Jasper nods to him, unwilling to waste his breath if he didn't have to speak.

Speaking of a lack of pleasant emotions! This particular Finwean is kind of a mess of them. But he does stand, politely, looking Jasper over. The pointed ears are a dead giveaway as to what he is.

"Good day."

Jasper stares, wide-eyed at the newcomer, fighting against the dark emotions that overwhelm him when he enters the room. Carefully, he tries to remember the pleasant feeling that seems to radiate from Alice when he is around her, so that he can transmit it back to the pained soul.

Pushing the feeling onto the man like a fuzzy robe or blanket, sure that he might appreciate the break from depression, Jasper replied slowly, "Hello."

He blinks a little. It reminds him of what Lydia does, sometimes, and it's kind of an odd feeling, but as there's nothing he can do about it - he relaxes. Marginally. "...hello. You just arrived here?"

Should Jasper still be around after dark, he might come across another vampire in the hallway. Henry fights not to snarl for a moment - the automatic reaction is still hard to forget, even if he can be around the vampires here - and he makes it a polite, closed-mouth smile.

"Good evening," he says in his deep, cultured voice.

Since there had been really no response, Jasper had gone to explore the rooms in the front hall, but soon he came back and stood, still as a statue there near the doorway.

The introduction of a new face made him jump, or rather twitch (which was about as close of a startled movement as he makes), and growl.

"Good evening to you, sir."

Henry smiles a little. Coolly, and still closed-lip. "I'm sorry to have startled you."
