House call (Yes, another Frenchman - and an introduction...)

Jul 08, 2008 12:48

The carriage stops in front of the Mansion, and a man, in his mid-twenties, walks up the steps. His hair is unkempt, he is sporting a stubble, and a rare thing for a man of the 19th century, he does not wear a hat. He looks around with curious eyes, frowns, and knocks on the door.

His horses and carriage have stopped and await him - he never did anything but drive himself to his patient’s home, though why in the world the home is so different than it was last time he visited, he cannot fathom - or perhaps he got lost? He was on his way to visit Serge Mouret, after all. This was supposed to be just a pit stop.

Tanned skin, light blond hair and a slightly lanky, tall build, though he is resolutely healthy and visibly strong, curious blue eyes that seem to fragment everything he looks at, a green suit which is far from impeccably pressed, though it is clearn, and a black physician’s bag in his hand, he waits.

Hopefully, someone will be able to tell him the way back to Plassans.

T: This is Pascal Rougon, from Emile Zola’s Rougon-Macquart Novel series, A History of a family under the Second Empire series. He is taken before La faute de l’Abbe Mouret, and so is still young, and has not been tasked with the care of his niece, Clotilde Rougon yet. (And if you haven’t read this series, get into it, it’s awesome.)
