Well this is... new. (Introduction)

Philip woke up in the middle of the woods, head aching from the blow it had received. He found himself, however, able to get to his feet. Nothing looked familiar... they must have been taking himself somewhere when he fell off the horse or cart they had tied him to. Odd, certainly, but in such chaotic times...

He picked a direction and began to walk. Surely he would hit a village or a monastery before very long. He knows that he does not cut a terribly impressive figure, but hopefully his monk's robes with offer him some protection on the road. And he's still young, not much more than thirty, his hair black where it's not shaved, his blue eyes bright. It's hard to imagine how his day could get worse, in any event. God would see to it, as long as Philip made an effort.

Prior Philip of Kingsbridge is from Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth, taken about midway through the novel. Because clearly what we need is a devout 12th century Welsh monk.
