Enter, Master Snakebite

May 10, 2008 22:28

"Ha! You ill-begotten, unworthy wretch!  You did not kill me!  Nothing can kill Master Steerpike, nothing!" He claims, repeats, singing and dancing madly as he flails in the darkening, rainy night.  Until... In a surprising deft movement he turns and stares at an uncanny source of light, a beacon in the night, and he suddenly realized he is no ( Read more... )

Ohdear. This could be interesting. XD

Melisande answers, her smile just as charming, if with a slight edge. She lifts her eyebrows at the stranger, her flawless face mildly curious. "Hello?"

Well, hello.

If Steerpike still had thoughts for Fuschia, they have just evaporated into complete oblivion, as have any memories that might have been hers.

He bows, elegantly, skillfully, and a little bit ridiculously. "Master Steerpike, at your service," he offers with the most charming smile he can muster. This one's actually sincere.

Melisande smiles back, twitching back her blue-black hair, her eyes watching him closely. She inclines her head gracefully. "Melisande Shahrizai, at yours," she offers, her voice slightly lower and huskier. "Step inside, please." She steps back, holding the door open.

He steps in without hesitation, and yet this is vaguely reminiscent of moments so long ago. A woman let him in at Gormenghast too, and he would have made her everything, if she had only let him do so.

He turns around, and looks at her with appreciation. Beautiful. Deadly beautiful. She could kill with but a look. "The honor is all mine," he tells her with another sweeping bow.

T: Yes, it's amusing how they seem to get antsy, those bad guys. I almost took up Phedre, by the way. Still thinking about it. :P

Melisande: *earprick* Oooo.

She laughs, smoothly, amusement dancing in her pure, blue eyes. "Then I am glad to welcome you, gracious sir, to the Mansion." She gestures gracefully around the entry hall, still watching him with keen curiosity.

"The Mansion?" he questions amiably. "No doubt you are the Lady of the House, but where are your servants?

The latter is offered with visible indignation. Inwardly, he smiles. He used this line before on those idiotic twins.

T: LMAO. Or maybe Imriel? That could be interesting too. Steerpike is maybe going to torture me to find out who Phedre is by the way.

Typist: O.o Let me read the two newest books first! I haven't yet... bad me.

Melisande smiles and ducks her head, feigning a bit of modesty. "Oh, I'm afraid I am not." Here, her tone implies. "You are mistaken there, Sir Steerpike."

"How unfortunate," he says with conniving eyes. "Perhaps this shall be addressed, if you allow your servant ?" He sweeps a bow again, and this time, his sick mind is somewhat convinced that he truly means it, though if he would be faithful to his own delusion is anyone's guess.

T: Take your time, I'm still shoveling through Jane Austen's complete novels, with War and Peace to follow. ;-P

Melisande smiles. "I have no ambitions in that direction, I'm afraid," she murmurs, and not altogether dishonestly. "But thank you for your kind offer."

"As the Lady wishes," he retorts with a clever bow. "The offer stands, only reflect on it, for the future," he adds without guile.

"I certainly will." She examines him again, flicking her eyes lazily over his body. "Sir Steerpike...where do you hail from, then?"

He straightens his pause, apparently proud of the answer he is about to give. "Gormenghast, Lady. Have you ever seen the Stones?" The latter is asked reverently almost - as though it were the stones that should see her, and not the other way around.

T: Damned LJ. I shall murder someone complain about their notification system, really it is. (We're sorry, Steerpike seems to be rather rambunctious these days.)

T: Yes. Indeed. Is Melisande as awful to you as Steerpike is to me? I'm not sleeping so well since he's come around. XD

Oh, yes. Melisande's probably one of my worse puppets in terms of bad. XD And she always wants to come out and play.
