Michael reappears in much the same way he came and left the first time around, quiet, natural, as if he belongs in whatever place he happens upon--at least in his own mind. Appearance-wise he's out of place and strange, pale, tall, sombre-faced.
He's no angel these days, has not been for several years, but that gentle feeling of once-power is about him. He's wearing his shoemaker's apron, the pockets full of his tools, and sitting on the wall of the garden working at a shoe.
Michael the Archangel, from Leo Tolstoy's What Men Live By! I missed having him around.
