No, it's not the brightest thing he's ever done.
A few moments later, a young, attractive, very human young man puts the ring on his finger to see how it fits. It fit well, so he left it on and wandered off to poke around the weird mansion.

There's an odd sort of wrenching feeling and she drops the ring and hastily backs away, automatically trying to flick to wolf shape.
Nothing happens. She can't change. She's locked in a human body again. She throws back her head and howls, tries to call for Mabon, but finds that she cannot remember the language of wolves, not even a shred. Human. For Firekeeper, it feels like a death sentence. How will she find Mabon and speak to him like this?
