During the long months of winter, Ilmarinen has kept busy (and warm) with work in his forge. He has finer tools, now, and he has gotten better at destroying any of the mistakes that have tried to run away or kill him. Sometimes, though, he simply can't tell when a work has gone rogue

Molly really should know better, but there's too much of the magpie in her temperament. She selects a beautiful little gold ring set with a ruby, and it promptly makes her mute.

...this may present a bit of a problem, but she's not yet had occasion to notice.

"What've you got there, helyes?"

She opens her opens her mouth to say and no sound comes out. This brings her up short, and she looks very puzzled.

A quick lift of the eyebrows. "Are you all right?"

She takes off the ring and tries again, but sadly, the magic doesn't work that simply. She looks very frustrated now.

"Oh, I see." He holds out his hand. "You've gotten yourself pointlessly enchanted."

She nods, looking quite put out.

[le_desirous]

"Well, that leaves us with a few choices, doesn't it?" smiling at her. "We could, I suppose, look for Lady Morvydd or Lady Clarissant, and see whether they'd take it off; or we could wait and see whether it goes on its own; or perhaps there's some sort of action we could take that would complete whatever pointless end was hoped for."

She shrugs a bit, and kisses him lightly as a thanks for his help.

"Perhaps," he says, "we could just stand around and do this." And kisses her.

She laughs into the kiss a little as she returns it, wrapping her arms around him.

He embraces back, playing with her hair.

And Molly is quite eloquent even without speech, it seems, as most of her talents are unimpaired.

Wonderful! Sagramore may suggest adjourning to a more private room.

Molly will silently but unhesitatingly agree.

When the veil is lifted, however, she is, while pleasantly mused, still mute.

He makes a face at her. "Whatever you've done, bajos--!"
