Look, here's a brown-haired, glasses-wearing 27-year-old (just had a birthday) man with a 10-month-old girl on his hip. The little one is peering solemnly at the world in a way that is very similar to the way a certain green baby in Oz used to once upon a time.

Mark smiles at the new-comer. "Hey there. I don't think I've seen you around before."

"You wouldn't have. I've just gotten here." Avaric tilts his head and gazes at the man and baby. "Who are you?"

"Oh! Sorry." Mark shifts Bit on his hip a little and offers his hand. "Mark Thropp-Cohen. And this is Bit. Um, Elizabeth, really, but we call her Little Bit."

He kisses the little girl's cheek. She just peers solemnly at Avaric. Rather like she's pondering biting his hand if he gets too close.

Thropp. The name is not unknown to Avaric. He quirks an eyebrow and shakes Mark's hand.

"Avaric."

And that name is not unknown to Mark. He quirks an eyebrow.

"You're from Oz, aren't you?"

"You're not. What's with the name?" Avaric almost fears the answer.

"I am now. Thropp, it's my wife's name."

Mwahahaha.

Avaric feels slightly queasy, and wonders (with intense amusement) if he's gone a bit green around the edges.

"I see," is all he can say. Poor man, Avaric thought, he must be confuddled in the head.

Mark rolls his eyes.

"Honestly, you people are so weird when it comes to the thought of Elphie having a romantic life."

He twitches. Noticeabley.

"In case you haven't come to notice, Elphaba is something of a downer." He refrains from saying hag.

Mark raises an eyebrow. "Really? I think she's lovely. Most beautiful woman I know, anyway."

Bit nods. "Bah pree," she states.

"You mustn't know many women, then."

He stares curiously between Mark and Bit.

"No, I know plenty, believe me." Mark rolls his eyes.

Then raises his eyebrows. "Yes, she is ours, if you were wondering."

"I wasn't -- What?" Avaric frowns. "I'll have you know, that was the furthest question from my mind."

"Well, you were staring." Mark shrugs. "Just thought I'd clear that up."

Bit, the narration must point out, honestly looks like a 1-year-old, slightly rounder, non-green version of Elphaba.

The narration must also point out that Avaric is slightly disturbed by the resemblence.

"Where exactly is this place, anyway?" Because it certainly isn't Oz.
