Morgause, fashionably late as usual, pauses at the foot of the stairs and then sweeps towards her. "Well," she says pleasantly, "you see fit to join us at last."

She automatically drops into a small curtsy. Unlike Lynet, there is nothing one could point out as insolent in her manner, though she also seems to lack Lyonors' sweet sincerity. "Your Majesty. I apologize for being unwittingly late. I trust my husband has been managing without my in the meanwhile."

"Oh, very well indeed, from what I hear." She sets her hands on Laurel's shoulders. "There, child, let me see you. How weary you look."

She meets Morgause's eyes. "No more than reason."

"Oh? Have you been long on the road?" Her eyes are mocking.

"I have been long, my lady, in cleaning up my husband's messes," she says, mildly. "But at least I need never fear boredom."
