He almost misses her, till she speaks and he stops in the doorway. "Sister?"

She raises her eyebrows. "Brother. One surprise after another."

"Am I that startling?"

"When I expected to be in Orkney and you to be in Camelot, and I find us both in neither place, yes, I'd say so."

"Yes. Well." A glance at the room behind him. "Change is good."

"Do you know where we are?" Her brows arch farther at his backwards look.

"Not as such, no. It doesn't seem to be anywhere, exactly."

[hardlyagravated]

"A riddle?"

He laughs. "Do I look like Ragnelle?"

[hardlyagravated]

"Thank heavens, no."

[illgotten]

"She's here," he says mildly. "We're all here. --If you don't mind, by the way, what's the last major event you remember?"

She laughs, but then notices he's serious and attempts to be as well. "Well. I don't get a great deal of news from my husband, as you might expect. But on his last visit, he said most of you were preparing to go on a great quest. The Holy Grail, I think it was."

"Why do you ask?"

"Because it seems to vary." Now is not the time to bring up his own cognitive issues.

"Vary?" A bit of a pause, then less glibly: "Where are we?"
