There's a dark-skinned boy in the main room, lying on his stomach under a low table with a tablecloth, watching and listening to everyone there. With the fringe falling down around him and his perfect lack of movement he's invisible, like a bird in the underbrush, though his eyes are watching you from the darkness. His eyes see more than they should.
