Unlike the dramatic entrance of his companion a month ago, Mr Christopher Drawlight enters with comparatively little fuss. He is a small man, meticulously dressed in the height of fashion, effeminate with large dark-eyes. He looks to be just at the edge of thirty, although he would never tell his real age. (It would be difficult to get Drawlight to ( Read more... )

T: ...I totally didn't notice you had done this before I posted. That's just creepy.

Childermass' eyebrow raises higher yet. "I hadn't heard you were back yet, Drawlight."

Drawlight looks up from the book he was flipping through. He thought it might have been something interesting like a jounal but he can't even tell what language it's written in and it frustrates him to no end. Given such trying circumstances, he is allowed to be a bit more short than usual with Childermass. "Back from where?" He frowns.

Childermass raises the other eyebrow, but studies Drawlight a bit more closely, at length. "Ah," he says, a great deal of meaning in the small syllable.

"--Mr Drawlight." This in a tone so very polite, one could not possibly reproach it.

"Why! Mrs Strange! How perfectly delightful it is to see you!" He smiles at her.

"Indeed. I had not thought to find you here, sir."

"And I did not think you would be at the Duchess' and yet, here you are!" He's fairly sure this isn't the Duchess' (unless she redecorated without consulting him) but he can't resist a jab at her social status.

Lascelles (now quite recovered from his recent bout of youth, thank you) may be found in a small parlour off the main common room of the Mansion, flicking idly through a thoroughly dull and ridiculous little book in which he clearly has little interest. Of far more interest is the newest arrival, who has just walked into the parlour.

"Drawlight--!"

It must be a shock, seeing a man whom you last saw murdered by your own hand, brought back into the earth - quite literally - suddenly standing here before you, without a single wound or twig upon him, but Lascelles recovers swiftly.

"Whatever are you doing here?"

Drawlight laughs and it isn't anything like the nervous one that Lascelles last heard from him. "My dear Lascelles! I might ask you the same question."

"I? I walked here down a fairy road," Lascelles drawls, though his sneer is not quite as imperturbable as usual. "I know you have done no such thing. Why, the last I saw of you--"

"We were at that coffee house, I forget its name."

As Jonathan Strange spends nearly all his time in the Mansion's library (he has not forgotten his promise to the gentleman with the thistle-down hair, but cannot entirely give up his old habits), he shall be found here, should Drawlight poke his inquisitive nose into this particular room, with his own long nose thoroughly buried in a book.

Books really don't interest Drawlight but he does go around trying to find out more about the people reading them and about what they are reading. He is currently trying to peek over Strange's shoulder, not recognizing him from behind.

It slowly dawns upon the preoccupied magician that there is another presence in the room, and quite close to him; in a mildly exasperated, very recognisable voice, he says, 'There is another copy on the shelf, just there!'

Well, have someone who knows one half of the duo, and has a good reason to despise him. Her bout of puppywolf has worn off, and she is completely human again. Well. Not really. She still exudes an unnerving sort of aura of...wolfiness.

Anyway, she is actually inside for a rare moment, in the kitchen, but when the door opens she will appear, holding a knife in one hand and a dead rabbit in the other and staring quite openly.

We're sorry for her crazy. Very.

I begin to think that I really need to read this book. XD

Well, if it's an consolation, Firekeeper, Lascelles kills Drawlight, too.

Drawlight blanches a little at the sight and backs up. "Terribly sorry..."

She blinks at him and gives an instinctive snarl, scrambling to remember what people do in this sort of situation.

"Is nothing," she says finally. "Who are you?"

"Christopher Drawlight." He keeps backing up. He really is a coward and the sight of an angry woman with a knife is just a bit scary.
