The human child (Intro)

A little boy, no more than eleven or so, enters the mansion. He is dressed like a proper English schoolboy from the turn of the century, in short trousers and long stockings, with a cap on his head. He looks vaguely lost but it doesn't seem to worry him very much. There is something faintly otherworldly about him and his blue-grey eyes seem to see

With a content smile, (breakfast was excellent this morning) Professor Kirke walks in to discover the boy. "Why, hello! Who have you lost?"

"A fairy."

[inmywardrobe]

"A fairy!" he laughs, not really surprised. "What kind of fairy?"

[christmas_child]

"A hob-goblin."

[inmywardrobe]

"Really? Where did you come from?"

[christmas_child]

"England. Where else would I come from?"

[inmywardrobe]

"England's obvious, but what part? Where did you find a fairly?"

[christmas_child]

"I found them in the woods. But they're in my house too."

[inmywardrobe]

"And you made friends with them, eh? What's your name, lad?"

[christmas_child]

"Chris."

[inmywardrobe]

"Well, Master Chris, I'm Professor Kirke. How did you lose your fairy?"

[christmas_child]

"He isn't my fairy."

[inmywardrobe]

"No one can own fairies. Perhaps I should've said 'your fairy friend'?"

[christmas_child]

"Yes. You should have."

[inmywardrobe]

"How did you lose your friend the fairy?"

[christmas_child]

"I don't know. Perhaps he just disappeared. They do that."
