Alcuin can try to help, at least enough to stop the bleeding. He heads for the kitchen at once, asking Kate questions as he goes. "Does anyone know what happepned? How long ago was this?"

Kneeling by Vera, he touches her arm gently. "Miss--can you speak?"

"I don't know exactly what happened. A stab wound in each shoulder and one in the abdomen. I couldn't tell you much more."

Vera, for her part, is almost entirely unconscious, curled around the blade in her belly. There's a very weak noise from somewhere in the back of her throat, but it's a sound of pain, not really a response.

Spade looks up from where he'd been at Vera's side, trying to stop the bleeding via pressure. He moves out of Alcuin's way.

"Miss Morgan, how long ago did you find them?" He moves to the very dead man, doing a cursory examination of the corpse.

"Just a minute or so before I went looking for help. I don't know how long they'd been there, but it can't have been too long since she's still breathing."

Alcuin doesn't know much about medicine, especially not modern medicine, but he knows enough. Getting up, he takes a bottle of vodka from a cupboard and a knife from a drawer, kneeling next to her and delicately rolling the body of Alexis off of her. "Miss, just stay with me. Listen to my voice. It's going to be okay."

Setting to work and ignoring everyone else (unless anyone else is a doctor), he uses the knife to cut her shirt away from the wounds, pushing the scraps aside. Quickly looking over the wounds again, he stands and starts filling a large bowl with warm water, grabbing a kitchen rag to use as a cloth. "I need someone to help hold her down."

"I can do that." Kate takes off her leather jacket, though it's already covered in blood, and pushes back her sleeves, ready to help.

Vera opens her eyes briefly, then closes them again, seeming only vaguely aware of what's happening.

Spade nods in response to Kate, moving to help Alcuin hold Vera down. "We need to find if anyone heard a gunshot. That wound would have been loud."

"You hold her legs, please, and if you'll hold her shoulders, Miss. Don't touch the dagger, we'll have to leave it in her, at least until we've stopped the bleeding in her shoulders." Alcuin quickly cleans the blood away from one of her shoulders, then opens the bottle of vodka, pressing it to her lips. "Drink a little of this, miss. Try to swallow. It will help with the pain."

He pours a small amount into her mouth, holding her lips closed and praying that she'd swallow it.

Sam followed instructions, looking grim.

T: Must run for now...should be back around 5 EST. Feel free to carry on with the medical part, though, as Sam will just follow instructions from Alcuin as long as they're necessary.

Kate carefully presses down on Vera's shoulders, carefully avoiding the stab wounds.

Vera chokes a little, which would probably be her reaction even in the best of health -- she isn't one for strong alcohol -- and swallows, though not without a muffled noise of protest.

Alcuin asks Sam to fetch bandages from the plothole, then pours a little of the vodka over the wound to sterilize it as best he can, quickly bandaging it, tightly to stop the bleeding. He repeats the process for the other shoulder, cleaning it then bandaging it, having the others hold her still while he did so.

"That will slow the bleeding, at least." He frowned, eyeing the dagger in her abdomen with worry. "I don't know what to do about the dagger. Taking it out might make the bleeding worse--especially if it's nicked her intestine."

Spade frowned, deeply. "What do suggest, then?"

"We need to find a real doctor. I've done all I can, for now. Get a blanket, try to keep her warm. We shouldn't move her, if possible. Do something about... the body." He nods in the direction of Alexis' body, frowning.

Spade stood. "I'd like to look at it more closely, before we move it. And find the bullet, if I can."

"I can see about finding a doctor," Kate says. "For now, would this help at all?" She offers her jacket for use as a blanket.

Vera, having come around a bit, closes her eyes again at the word "body," squeezing them tightly shut against the tears.
