It's Christmas, and so it's only natural that there's a Christmas feast laid out. Arthur has seen to this. There's enough for everyone to eat well: a meal truly fit for a king-- several kinds of fowl, hams, vegetable dishes, casseroles, sides, and an entire table of desserts. Bottles of wine, champagne, mead, and beer sit unopened and waiting, ( Read more... )

Percy sees his King and immediately goes to one knee before him. "Your Majesty!"

"Oh, rise, rise," says the king, full of good cheer but not dismissing the gesture. "And take some wine."

He does rise, and gets himself a glass of wine, but he's bubbling over with questions that make him hover around Arthur excitedly. "Thanks, your Majesty. Um--"

Arthur doesn't mind the excitement or the hovering; as king, he's used to the attention, and as an outgoing personality, he enjoys it. "Yes?" He also reaches for a glass of wine, and sips before again focusing on Percy. "Good Sir Percival, speak if you wish."

"Mordred wouldn't say, but--is Galahad home yet? I lost him while I was out. Mordred says the time's all funny, but you'd know, wouldn't you? --Sorry, that's not polite, is it? I just got worried 'cause I didn't know, that's all. I've been with Her all this time." He beams, and doesn't quite pause. "I'm going to marry Her. She's my lady. But I been stayin' with her, so I don't know how everybody else is, so that's why I'm wonderin' about Galahad, and--" This time he does pause, looks embarrassed, blushes a little, stands on one foot, and looks at Arthur eagerly.

Arthur smiles, a bit overwhelmed but never showing it-- never-- and holds up a hand to signal that he is taking a turn at speaking. "Galahad," he says, pausing to form the words before he speaks them, "is here and well. He is not lost. Fear not for him."

This is the first that he has heard of Her, and if he looks curious, surely he can be excused. His curiosity is gentle and without rebuke. "I knew of no such lady. Some gentlewoman won?"

"Oh, good. Well, I'm glad, I was worried. I'm real glad."

Percy drinks a little of his wine, but doesn't really pause to think, doesn't really need to. "Well, no, not really. I was cold, and I was sort of freezin' and a little sick and she found me and she took care of me, and I really love her, and she loves me, and she's goin' ta marry me."
