A Re-introduction

There is a young man sitting in the kitchen. It would be difficult to say how long he’s been there - he is very quiet, very still, very intent on the thick book in front of him

And here is a Cosette, greeting him with a curtsey and a polite smile. "Monsieur, hello."

[she_is_france]

"Mam’selle," he says politely, with a (possibly slightly wary?) nod.

[la_baronne]

"Monsieur... Enjolras, is it not?" She smiles again. "I have heard so very much about you."

[she_is_france]

"It is, thank you," he says, and looks at her, almost frowning in concentration.

"I'm sorry. I don't recognize you."

[la_baronne]

She shakes her head with a bit of an embarrassed smile. "Oh, no, you would not. We've not met before." She curtsies. "My name is Cosette."

[she_is_france]

"I'm pleased to meet you now, then, Mlle Cosette," he says.

[la_baronne]

"Likewise, monsieur. Marius has told me so very much about you!"

[she_is_france]

"Oh. And you are his...?"

[la_baronne]

At this, she beams. "His wife, monsieur."

[she_is_france]

"My felicitations," he says, a bit surprised - though it is the logical conclusion it wasn't entirely the one he expected.

[la_baronne]

... His wife who just so happens to be six months pregnant. "Thank you very much, monsieur!" She beams again. "I take it you are not married?"

[she_is_france]

With Marius, one tends to expect sister.

"...No," he says, after a brief, slightly disturbed, pause. "No, indeed I am not."

[la_baronne]

"Oh!" She says brightly, beaming at him. "Perhaps you will meet a nice la--" she pauses for a moment, considering just exactly where she is, then continues, "--a nice person, then."
