There is a young man sitting in the kitchen. It would be difficult to say how long he’s been there - he is very quiet, very still, very intent on the thick book in front of him.
He looks up, deliberately, steady, with an intent control over his movements, and his eyes flick ever so slightly to the side.
“Well,” he says, in a voice that is measured, low, “Good afternoon, then.”
