Techno-Woes

I've been in a battle with technology for the past year or so. I've experienced everything: getting hacked, my keyboard fritzing out so only half of it worked, the battery dying without notice, accidental deletion of several important folders including all my class notes of 4 semesters and my digital art creations, a frustratingly slow internet connection, and certain (random) sites blocked by the school (including my favorite, India-Forums).

The notes were partially recovered thanks to a program called Pandora. I had most of my digital art backed up on an external hard-drive. I only lost my most recent work, and I feel so bad about not being able to get the last requests to friends on India-Forums. I've only just found a work-around to access LiveJournal. Odd, the sites my school blocked. The IT guy clearly doesn't know what he's doing since I had/have complete access to Facebook, Blogger and Twitter. Hope I didn't jinx anything.

Since I didn't have digital art to distract and amuse me, I went back to writing. Insert shameless self-promotion. Please check out my blogs: Substitute Cooking and  Rambles of the Wandering Mind.

In other news, I went on a 4-day vacation to Chicago recently. It was my first "solo" or "non-family" vacation (high time at 21+ right). I had a blast. The trip reminded me of why I love Chicago so much re-motivated me to get my butt in gear so I can live & work there. I ended up taking over 1,000 pics out of which about 800 turned out quite well and about 20 rocked. Not a bad ratio I guess.  I'd love a digital-SLR though. The point-and-shoot, for as fancy as it is these days, still can't compete with an SLR.
We saw and did as much as humanly possible within 4 days; my feet can attest to that. If anyone needs tips and pointers about a trip to Chicago, just ask me ;)
Future vacation plans include a trip to St Louis and hopefully a Route 66 Road Trip.

Life has otherwise been quiet and unexciting. The next thing to look forward to is NaNoWriMo. I'm psyched about that since I have a story in mind. I'm just having troubles visualizing how it will write out, so I'll just leave it to NaNo month to work itself out. This one's got a pretty good premise and I've worked it through to an ending(ish), so I'm hoping I can take it beyond NaNo and maybe make some money off of it. Any extra cash would be awesome right now. Med School is a bank-drainer!

Since I've been blogging and tweeting, and have finally found a way to access LJ, I should be updating here more often as well.

Ciao for now!
