I have to say that life with this family is always an adventure. It can be frustrating, aggravating, and lead to possible insanity, but it's never dull.

Last night was interesting, to say the least. Of course, I found it amusing too, although Amber wasn't feeling that. She went out to hunt for Markez for between thirty and forty-five minutes only to come home and find out that he'd come back in without her knowing it and gone to bed. That led to an interesting conversation this morning. She's still grumbling about it, and Markez has a far too pleased expression on his face that makes it that much more difficult for Amber to stop with the grumbling. It's a good thing that I've learned over the years not to laugh or show amusement during these times, or I'm sure I'd find myself the victim of one of her infamous glares. I'm just waiting for Mikel to show up for the hell of it. I'm sure Markez probably called him and told him of his antics. He usually does. I might have to go for a walk if he does show up. It will be safer all around.

Garnet, since she doesn't get as much air play as the boys, she's growing like a weed. She's become quite a daddy's girl, which I can't say I object to. It's strange raising a girl after having two boys like Rafiq and Markez, but it's not at all an unpleasant experience. I'm avoiding thinking about the future when boyfriends and such things will be involved. I like my little bubble of ignorance. I'm just happy to have her following me around all the time and begging me to play with her or read to her. She loves books, and she'd be happy to sit there for hours while I read to her over and over again. She's memorized several of her books, I think, or at least come close. She can certainly interrupt me to tell me if I miss a word, that's for sure. And listening to her read to her dolls and stuffed animals is fun, too. We won't go into her tendency to put those same toys into dangerous, precarious positions, however. I'm trying to focus on the sweet little girl things she does. Ignorance is bliss.

It's time to go eat lunch, and I'm hungry, so I'll leave it at that. Cross your fingers that the war between Amber and Markez will be over soon. This one, anyway. There will probably be another tomorrow.
