Lord of the Rings: Online

The open beta of this game started yesterday. I'm having a blast with it. If anyone would like to give a try, you can download the beta client from the official site (it's the "World Tour" option). If you do, let me know. I'm playing on Landroval as several different characters (loving my Minstrel at the moment), and would love to have some company

That looks pretty! But since I've never been into the LOTR mythos, I'm probably going to pass on it.

Well, I'm supposed to pass on all MMOs now but I'll be damned if I didn't get the latest FFXI newsletter and think "Chocobo racing? I'm so there!" Before, you know, realizing that in fact I hated chocobo raising and racing in FFVII. I guess FFXI will always haunt me that day, until they finally decide to shut it down...

Totally (re: FFXI). I hear you on that. And Chocobo Raising/Racing is IMO just awful in FFXI. Not quite as painful as FFVII, but close. Raising a chocobo is more annoying than raising an NPC companion, and you don't even get to "race" when doing the racing. You just watch it happen.
