I'm posting this a couple of days early because I don't forsee myself having much time for reading between now and Saturday.
1. Unwind - Neal Shusterman
*This was a creepy, creepy dystopian book that I found in the high school library. The second civil war was fought over abortion. The compromise that ended the war: abortion is outlawed, but if you want, you can give them to the government to be "unwound" for parts anytime between the ages of 12 and 18. It rather reminds me of the hypocritical attitude I often see among hard nose pro-lifers -- once the kid is born, they no longer care about it.
2. Memoirs of a Geisha - Arthur Golden
*I'd been wanting to read this one for years. :)
3. Magic's Pawn - Mercedes Lackey
*2011 ended up being one of those years in which I feel an urge to renew my acquaintance with Valdemar.
4. Magic's Power - Lackey
5. Magic's Price - Lackey
6. Brightly Burning - Lackey
7. Green - Jay Lake
*It wasn't bad, but I didn't love it, either.
8. Kitty and the Midnight Hour - Carrie Vaughn
*How can you resist a sarcastic, spunky werewolf named Kitty?
9. Oathbound - Lackey
10. Oathbreakers - Lackey
11. By The Sword - Lackey
12. Exile's Honor - Lackey
13. Exile's Valor - Lackey
14. Take a Thief - Lackey
15. Arrows of the Queen - Lackey
16. Arrow's Flight - Lackey
17. Arrow's Fall - Lackey
18. Winds of Fate - Lackey
19. Winds of Change - Lackey
20. Winds of Fury - Lackey
21. Red Hood's Revenge - Jim Hines
*I really like interesting new spins on old fairy tales, and I've decided I need to buy the rest of Hines' Princess Novels. I had read and enjoyed the first two last year. While waiting in line with Geoff to get his Wheel of Time books autographed by Brandon Sanderson, I decided to pop over to Jim Hines, who was also there signing books, and thank him for writing such fun books. I ended up buying the third from him, right then. Now I need a set of them, right?
22. Deadline - Mira Grant
*I am so glad that someone finally convinced me to read zombie books!
23. Storm Warning - Lackey
24. Storm Rising - Lackey
25. Storm Breaking - Lackey
26. Steamed - Katie MacAlister
*Can I have my few hours back, please? I know Katie Mac's books are pretty much the trashiest stuff I'll read because they're still fun, but this was even lower than what I expect from her. Disappointed.
27. River Marked - Patricia Briggs
*I <3 Mercy. I <3 the way that Briggs introduces new folklore as the focus of each new novel.
28. The Kobayashi Maru - Julia Ecklar
*This one caught my eye when I was helping Dad remove a bunch of Star Trek novels from a bookshelf that had gotten moldy. It was much fun. :)
29. Tongues of Serpents - Naomi Novik
*Dragons Down Under!
30. Sex at Dawn - Christopher Ryan and Cacilda Jetha
*I like my nonfiction to be witty, like this one!
31. A Long Walk to Water - Linda Sue Park
*This is one of the books I have in my classroom, for the kids to read after tests are done. I'm pulling excerpts from it to help illustrate issues in Africa -- specifically conflict (Lost Boys of Sudan).
32. Kitty Goes to Washington - Carrie Vaughn
33. Kitty Takes a Holiday - Carrie Vaughn
34. The Corset Diaries - Katie MacAlister
*I needed to read something by Katie Mac that I liked.
35. A Tangled Web - Lackey
*This was a novella in an anthology called Harvest Moon. I had no interest in the other two stories, as they come from other series, but this one was based on the Five Hundred Kingdoms universe. As mentioned before, I like the reinterpretations of old fairy tales.
