Dear Eustace,
------We do hope Uncle Harold and Aunt Alberta gave you a happy birthday. We thought we should send you a present as well, though it's rather late. We're sorry, but Edmund insisted it be perfect.
------Send our regards to your parents.
------With love, your cousins --

Eustace eyes the large envelope the note was attached to and opens it with care, then slides out the paper inside.
He gasps a little when he sees the painting -- a golden lion's head. Edmund's gotten the eyes as close to right as Eustace thinks anyone could.
"That's. . . quite a painting," Harold says.
Alberta looks mildly disapproving. "It looks like that ship one."
Eustace reverently turns it over, in case something's been written there. Just his cousins' signatures again.
"Well, Eustace, if you'll give it here, I'll find someplace to put it--" begins Alberta.
"I'll keep it," Eustace says abruptly. "I'll put it in my bedroom."
Harold and Alberta exchange looks. "Well, if you're sure, dear, but isn't it a bit--"
"It's beautiful."
His parents sigh, and exchange another look. "Well, happy birthday, Eustace."
