+++ Oh god, I want. I want, so much. This dude is selling a first edition Carry On, Jeeves by P.G. Wodehouse with The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie thrown in. Okay, first edition... that means this is probably from 1925 or 1927, depending on if it was published in England or the US. If I was a guy, I'd probably have a hard on over this because I'm a that much of a bibliophile and it is only getting worse. Hey, don't judge.

The funny thing is that I've never been one of those people that feel elitist for owning a first edition or whatever. No, I want it for the history. How many people have laughed over these words? Who were they? How did they come by it? I may never know the answers, but I enjoy the thought that perhaps each of those who have touched these pages have been touched in return.

*sighs* I fear I'm already too late. I know at least one person who has expressed interest in purchasing it. I should start frequenting antique shops.

+++ A little birdie told me that Stephen Fry will be appearing on Never Mind the Buzzcocks. Fuck. Yes. I need to buy an all-region code-free DVD player so I can start importing DVDs. Stupid incompatible formatting and regional codes.

+++ Is no one interested in going to Arisia? Really? It seems like only my cousin, who brought me in the first place, is going. And I totally blame her for being the way I am! I mean, I know the love of reading is in my blood, but it was her influence that got me into the Fantasy genre. My Dragonlance phase was entirely her fault. If she hadn't lent me The Companions when I started middle school...

+++ Did you know that she's even got me reading manga now? I had never even considered it before and now I'm hooked. They're not even that good! I've noticed that I latch on to things that are not quite good enough (for me) and then practically obsess over where to take it next, how to make it better. I haven't bought any yet, but that doesn't mean I haven't thought about it.

+++ I convinced one of the women at my work to read The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. On random days she'll come up to me to talk about certain bits, which amuses me to not end. However, today she said, "It's not the greatest book I've ever read, but it makes me chuckle every now and then."

BLASPHEMY!!!

Okay, it may not be the GREATEST book EVER for SOME people, but you sure as hell don't SAY that! At least not to me. Makes her chuckle... pshaw! I'd shrug it off as her odd Canadian-ness, but I've recently learned that Canadians can be awesome too. Anyway, Stephen Fry loves it and so do I, so that's all that matters.

+++ Yeah, that "Canadians can be awesome too" bit is totally a link to an artist that makes historical comics. And when I said "recently" I actually meant that I've been reading these for a few months now. Kate Beaton rocks so hard.
