So, you'd think that with my wedding less than three weeks away I'd be thinking about that more than future costuming ideas. However, sewing is theraputic for me and we never said I had my priorities straight. :-p
+Halloween Game: My costume is almost complete and it looks fucking fantastic. I cannot wait to get pictures and everything. I wasn't sure if I was going to wear the gown long and lean, but B suggested I try it with the petticoat, and let me tell you, he was right. It's gorgeous! I've almost considered trying to cut the straps off and go strapless, but I'm afraid it won't hold its shape. I dunno. We'll see.
+Corset: I bought it from
Meschantes and I would highly recommend their work to anyone else looking for a good, heavy duty piece. It's fully lined with beautiful fabric, strong laces and well-set eyelets. It brings my waist in about 6". I love it.
+Wedding: Less than three weeks away. Need to meet with my planner to look at the finished flowers, need to get the rings and need to get the license. Other than that, we're good. I've even sent out thank you notes to everyone we've received gifts from so far.
+UFC: I was all giddy last night on several occassions during the fights. I am such a fucking fangirl that I embarrass myself. If I were Brandon, I would never take me to a live fight.
Otherwise, we had dinner with Chris and Susan last night and talked about all sorts of stuff, which was really nice. I have a million leftovers for lunch today. One million. Like one million french fries, except not to roll around in. I'm also meeting the Shli of Ash for lunch! Hooray for the Shli!
I've been writing some little drabbles and stuff for Sadie, but I'm too self-conscious to put them up anywhere that anyone can read them. But they make me happy and that's all that matters. :)
Once I have some free cash and time, I want to start working on a skirt and bolero jacket like this:
I have a pattern for a full skirt like this, but I'm not exactly sure how to do the gathers on the overskirt. I wish I knew of someplace around here that gave sewing lessons, because while I love to sew and do so very often, my skills are only the most basic. Essentially I can hold fabric in a straight line while running it through the machine. Maybe I'll check at Hancock Fabrics to see if anyone does lessons.
I forgot how much I love the last album Common put out. I uploaded it on my iPod again and have been listening to it lots lately. Good stuff. Also good is the new album from the Basement Jaxx. Very different, very cool. It always makes me want to dance.
Anyway, I'm alive. If you haven't RSVPed for the wedding, you need to do so ASAP. Like today. Your invitation has a friggin self-addressed stamped envelope for your RSVP. There is no excuse for you not to send it in other than pure laziness and ill-breeding. My aunt said it best: "People who don't RSVP properly have obviously never entertained." We need to figure out a number of people so we know how much food to order for the reception. I don't want 100 people to send in RSVP cards and 200 to show up. And you don't want to incur my wrath on my wedding day. I will eviscerate you.
Alrighty then. Back to the salt mines.
