It took Lana a little while to trek up all the seedlings and such that she'd brought with her for Isabel, but after a couple of trips up and down, she was finally ready to knock at the door.

With the sliding door open to let in fresh air, Isabel heard the knock and quickly ran to answer the door.

"Lana, the gardening goddess. You made it."

Lana laughed. "I don't know about a goddess, but I do have a ton of gardening things. And Happy Birthday, by the way!"

"Thanks. I was trying to work out how old I technically am given all the alien stuff and other weirdness," she grinned. "I think I might be approaching ninety."

Isabel reached for some of the plants to help out. "Let's bring these out on the balcony. I've got pots and some bags of potting soil waiting for them."

"You're a very well-preserved 90 then," Lana teased as she grabbed an armload of plants. "I'm afraid I might have gone a little overboard here, but I figured anything you didn't want I could use somewhere else."

"As long as there's still a small place for my chair? I want it all," Isabel replied. "Of course the trick will be keeping it all alive."

"Oh, they're not that hard," Lana said, "A little water, a little TLC... they're good."

"So... vegetables, flowers in pretty much every color of the rainbow, and a bunch of herbs in case you wanted some fresh stuff of your own for cooking... Name your poison."

"Let's start with the herbs. I bought one pretty big pot, thinking I could put a bunch of different ones in there together," she said as she led the way to the balcony.

Lana nodded. "Sounds good. So... actually I started a bunch of these for you so you didn't have to actually wait for them to sprout."

She set the herb pots out, looking a little embarrassed at her enthusiasm. "Yes, so, I have no life."

"I appreciate it. Otherwise I would have been staring at the pots mumbling grow dammit! until they sprouted." Sometimes Isabel wasn't the most patient person. "Now I can just talk to them while I have my morning coffee."

"See, good in everything," Lana said. "You have a lovely place here, by the way."

"Thanks. Once I decided to stay in town and Wyatt decided to stay with me, it just made sense for us to get a place of our own," she smiled. "Living with V was nice, but sometimes it's nice to have some privacy."

"There's a reason I'm in the cottage and not the main house," Lana said with a smile.

"Completely understandable. It's like a little fairy tale cottage," Isabel said.

She laughed. "Yeah, sappy as it sounds, that's exactly what I wanted when I had it built."

"Besides, hot tub."

"Which I'm extremely jealous of."

She set the plants down and took a seat next to the pot. "So just dig a hole and stick them in?"
