If you can see A Scanner Darkly while it's still in theaters, do. The movie's bloody amazing. And it's enjoyable as a stoner flick as well as a serious science-fiction work - not usually a combination you see much of outside of Heavy Metal magazines from the '70s. Only real problem with the movie I can think of offhand was that Keanu Reeves' straight-from-the-book (or at least by the sounds of it) monologues came off as clunky from time to time, but a few awkwardly read lines are a small price to pay for quality animation of the kind on display in ASD. And the scene with the suicide attempt is the best I've seen in movies this year - no mean feat considering the sheer volume of amazing films I've witnessed in the past 7 months, for sure.
Also, the movie had a Thom Yorke song over the end credits. That was pretty awesome. As was the rest of the movie. I think I love Richard Linklater.
