X-Men 3
Saw X-Men: The Last Stand today. And, blasphemous as it may be, I think Brett Ratner is a much better director than Bryan Singer. Or anyone else making popcorn action flicks far as I'm concerned... The Ratner is nothing if not a master of dumb fun. (Rush Hour 3 coming out in 2007! W00t!)
And, while the movie was awesome on the whole (and nothing if not pure silver age-caliber EPIC storytelling), the best part about it was none other than the fact that...
CYCLOPS DIES IN THE FIRST HALF HOUR! OH YEAH MOTHERFUCKERS! HE'S DEAD!
Other stuff happened that was pretty awesome too, but Phoenix's quick dismissal of the former team leader made the movie for me. Getting rid of the worst character early makes for a lot more enjoyable viewing experience all around.
