I was flipping through the channels and caught part of the Iron Man movie. I do enjoy the Iron Man movies, but there is one section that I really dislike and that's when Iron Man goes to a village and takes out a bunch of terrorists.
Superheroes vs. supervillains - great. But that scene is one man going in and cleaning up terrorists - and it's such stupid wish fulfillment, I don't know... possibly someone else has a better insight on why I dislike it so much.
It's a lot like that scene in Doctor Who this season where the Doctor just whips out a magic potion to cure a brain clot as an afterthought. That scene bugged me in exactly the same way.
Fighting terrorism, handling life threatening medical issues - these are complex, serious issues and to have them treated like "oh, cancer's a problem? let me cure it in five minutes" it just trivializes a issue which has cost a great deal in real life.
I know I'm not saying it well, but it just really, really bugs me. ^^
