So, yesterday J and S came over and we made duct tape copies of our legs, and it's all been documented on film. I plan to make a simple step by step guide to assist others in future in making cloth stockings, but in the meantime, I have my basic pattern for socks.
I know it's not the period way of making stockings, and I do plan on making stocking by the pattern drape method in order to compare fit as a part of my second scholars project, but for now, I've started the project.
I've got the basic web layout for my scholars page (which is just an extension of my website); now I need to input the req's and my completed stuff to date. Interestingly, I feel pretty neutral to the website idea, but it serves it's purpose, which is what is important to me.
I have the first row of trim sewn onto the Cappotto, and the corners properly tacked down. I still need to put the second row of trim on, but I have to admit, it's starting to look pretty snazzy. When I first started this particular piece of garb, I hadn't quite realized just how much effort all the 'extras' take.... I think all in all, I've spent almost 30 hours on it: body block, fitting, pattern drafting, cutting, trim making, trim placement and sewing.... and it's still not done! Oh well. I'm having fun.
Off to make breakfast,
