It was an inevitability

The Xbox just gave the Red Ring of Death.

Three years and a few weeks of faithful service and fun video games and it just decides to up and die ignobly for No Apparent Reason. I last used the thing a week or so ago. Today I started it up to play some Rock Band and it couldn't even sense controllers connected to it. One restart later and the three flashing red lights popped up to say hello. Disconnected everything, plugged it all back in, and nothin but flashy flashy flashy.

Not only does this mean no more Rock Band, one of the few things keeping me sane, but no DVDs either. There won't be a replacement for a long time. I'll first need to get back on my feet and start making enough money to justify a new video game purchase, and that ain't gonna happen overnight. Or any night soon.

In the grand scheme of things the loss of a video game console really can't be considered a true tragedy. But it's just one more thing in my world that's crumbled recently, and a fellow can only take so much crumbling in such a short amount of time. It's beginning to feel like there's not much left that can fall apart.

Hopes: Not so high at the moment.
