Ok, was a Grease Monkey tonight.
So we were coming home, and the garage broke. One of the two support springs on the door broke off. Not really surpised, since we sorta hot fixed that one over a year ago and it wasn't ment to even last this long. So yea, busted into the house to hurry to the garage to see if it was openable at least for the time being. It wasn't.
Found and pointed out most of the problems to my dad. Totally had this movie moment when I mechanically went and got the tools I needed after looking at the problem and started to work on it. Totally had an accident a few seconds later when I was cutting wire because I didn't have goggles and when I cut the wire, it jumped on the final cut and grazed my arm. So yea, that was a sign. Got my googles, came back. Just like last time, I always had a closer call after I put the goggles on. Stupid me. They weren't exactly tight so at some point a wire sorta knocked my glasses off. Was thinking "Hmmm wouldn't have hurt me if I didn't have them on.. but now I wonder if these will stop a wire from hitting my eye anyways if they fall off so easy"... because like yea.. I have just this plastic one where I don't have anything to tie the back of my head, but whatever. I'm ok. Risks are fun.
Basically the night consisted of me pulling wires and helping lift the door manually and boy are the doors heavy without those support springs. And after I prepared everything, my dad pointed out a flaw I didn't see. Basically a wire snapped, because the weight wasn't on level so one of the pullies bent and cut the wire when it was passing through. Well, that's my guess from what I saw. Totally hard to disprove me >_>. But yea, removed the bad wire, which was only like 6 inches. Didn't think much of it. Was just going to die the parts together with a spare metal thing we use for that, technically not ment for it, but then how could I use the word hotfix if we didn't bend the rules? Too bad I realized all the work was wasted since that 6 inches mattered waaaay too much and the end of the wire was just like a couple inches off reaching the hook and whatnot. Yea.. bleh.. forgot that...
So yea, hardware store tomarrow. Black greased hands and all that fun for nothing >_> because I overlooked one thing. Bleh. And I gotta go through it again tomarrow. I don't have enough spare parts, that's it.. yea.. I should totally have spare 1/4 inch steel wires in my room for those emergencies whre I need to scale a wall?
