shooting my self in the foot

I should have learned my lesson long ago. Administration does not care about anything but money and the public opinion. They do not want to know how to improve the library & thus improve the school, because that would cost MONEY. You'd think I would have learned this lesson years ago after the horrors of first middle school librarian gig, but NOOOOOOOO... someone still thinks she can make things better & that people in power actually care about making things better. So, my attempt to present important information about how current library gig could be improved was shot down by the big boss & now I am rather affraid that my application for the same job next year will be shot down in a ball of fire. Go me. I really really really wish soemone would let the actual teachers have more say in what goes on in schools, because frankly, they don't have much power at all. The teachers are the ones who really know the kids and have their best interests at heart, but money makes the damn world go round.

Today is awesome used book sale here at library. Ollie found a bunch of stuff, but I didn't find so much. Of course, since we already have millions of books, I try to be picky, so as we don't get crushed by falling books. Since it's spring, I feel a need to get rid of stuff, so will have to sort through books and sell those I no longer want.

A new library position has just been posted, it's at a district near my alma mater. The principal of this brand new school will be.....my fourth grade teacher, Mr. Cooper, AKA one of my most favorite teachers ever. I sort of want to mention this fact in my letter of interest, but can't decide if that would be good or bad.

I have been working on creating a dresden plate quilt. It involves sewing circles, as in attaching a center circle into a circular "plate" piece of patchwork. Circles are evil to sew, but surprisingly, I am not totally sucking at it. I am however, stabbing m fingers a lot. I have never been able to use a thimble, I end up just using the non-covered fingers and stabbing them. I tried a fabric one once and that didn't work wither. I may just put band-aids on my fingertips, that might work. So far I have 5 out of 30 "plates" sewn. Each plate will then be appliqued onto a 12 by 12 cream colored square & then all squares will be somehow joined together. Maybe by then I'll actually learn how to put batting and a real backing on the quilt.... I'm also embrodiering my tablecloth from the fabric fair, so I am all kinds of sewing. One good thing about sewing while I watch TV is then I don't want to look for snacks. I don't think this is having a major effect on my tubbitude, but at least it's not hurting.
