Everyone knows that a movie is a dramatization of *something*, whether it's the vision of a storyteller or a recreation of something that actually happened.  You simply can't recreate, instant for instant, movement for movement, word for word, what actually happened.  The closest you can get is, "Something like this happened."  Cue Saving Private ( Read more... )

So, on Friday morning, I heard a review on CBC of the new Indiana Jones movie.  The review was mostly favourable, but it only ended up receiving 3 stars of 5 - it just ended up having certain problems that could not be overcome, for various reasons that could not be gone into in order to preserve the mystery and integrity of the movie.
