And to think, the cell processor of the PS3 is the retarded brother of the Power 6. To think that if Apple didn't sell out to Intel that you could go buy a workstation with 4 times the SIMD processing ability of the PS3.
Yeah well, money talks. I can't blame Apple for switching because chances are they would still be called the retarded brother of Windows and not have half the market share they have now. The main reason Mac is so big now is because you can dual boot windows or VC Windows Apps. Sure OSX is good itself, but its been around longer than Macs have been Intel.
So yeah, they could be faster at number crunching, but I think they made the right choice for their business.
Yeah sadly that has become the case, I remember not all that long ago when it seemed like when you bought Apple stuff that the price was justified because you were infact getting superior hardware. Now it's all the same shit in a nice case but still the premium price. f-em. They lost me as a customer when they started doing shit like charging money for firmware upgrades.
But the only reason I get so miffed about the whole Power 6 thing is the fact I am a CE/CS major, when you get that far into nerd territory ease of use or praticality go right out the window. I could care less what os it runs, because odds are I'd change it, just to say I did.
Yeah, I like laptops like the Macbook Pro, because they do look good. Then I price it out and its like, "Ok, I pay the same as an XPS M1730, but get a lower video card, less powerful processor, and lower resolution screen, but it does look good
