crazy...
Well yesterday before I got to work, 2 teenagers decided to try and rob one of the jewelry booths in the trade center. They walked in behind the owner and when they reached the booth the smashed the glass case in, grabed as much as they could and ran towards the loading docks which were still open for the venders to move in stock. My friend Eric works security at that dock and saw the 2 guys running towards the gate. He tackled one of the men and wrestled with him on the floor, when the guy pulled out some sort of knife or carpenters blade. The robber slashed his face and throat as if life were meaningless to him. Eric still held him long enough for the rest of security to get there and take the guy into custody, but the 2nd robber had gotten away...
Eric is 20 years old, and is laying in the hospital as we speak in critical condition... He was just doing his job...
The guy who slashed his throat was barely 18 years old...
Personally, if I had been there and seen what that kid did to Eric I would have never let him walk out alive... I'm not saying it to be a hardass, but to the matter that for someone to have completely no care for someone elses life to try and slash their throat over stolen jewelry... To try and take someones life over pieces of metal... This theif showed me he is not human, he is just a disease that needs to be eradicated from this planet. He'll be going to jail for near 20 years if Eric lives, and for life if Eric dies... I beleive this is too easy of a sentance for him, he should be given the same fate as Eric was given.
Now I sit and think that this is the place I work, I think this was a sign for me to move on to somewhere else.
Eric did his job, and he did his job well. Unfortunately in this world, minimum wage means putting your life on the line. Eric didn't need to do what he did, but he did it because he is a good guy.
We are all pulling for you Eric, you will beat this....
