So, I got the itch to look at my shelfari account and update it a bit, since it's woefully inaccurate. What, only 30 books on the shelf? We know I have more than that. Apparently, however, the page won't pull up. That's right, I get a error along the lines of "the page cannot be displayed" when I try to go to Shelfari. I only assume the site is down, possibly unreliable, and maybe even completely defunct! That won't do.
I know there are others that are listing their personal libraries online. So, do you have a Shelfari account? Maybe a LibraryThing account? Let's friend each other, on those sites that allow friending. And if you don't have an account, come, join the revolution! We want to know what you read. ::laughs::
Really, I want to know what sites are out there, and the pros and cons of each. Shelfari's down, there's a con. LibraryThing is only free until you get 200 titles, then you have to pay if you want more. I know I have more than 200 books. At least, I think I do. O.o I don't want to have to pay for this. Does the site have an organizational feature of any type? Can you organize books how YOU want them organized? Genre? Alphabetical by author? Series together, in order? Theme? A seperate shelf so your cookbooks don't mix with your leisure reading, which in turn doesn't mix with your research materials? I'd like something like that.
I figure this could be a great resource, couldn't it? "Oh, I bet Patti would love this book! Maybe I'll buy it for her birthday! But what if she's read it already? ::gasp:: What if she already has it? I better go look on her bookshelf and make sure, first!" XD There is just so much potential. So, little help, my fellow bookworms?
::glares at LJ, stamps her foot, and demands her icons back, dangit:: ::mutters something about stupid paid accounts expiring::
ETA: Shelfari must've just been down for the day or something. It's up now. I am
here for those who want to join/friend me.
