Happy Belated Birthday, STEPHIE! <3<3<3
Hmm, what to talk about... what to talk about...? The weekend? I suppose I could. My feet are KILLING me. I wandered around all day on Sunday in ballet slippers. Those things offer NO support. OW. ::flails::
I'm really not sure what to say about the weekend, though. Lemme see if it'll get easier if I start at the beginning... hrm...
Friday we got out of work at 3:30. I threw on my lemming costume and trouped downstairs, much to the amusement of my coworkers... although apparently they weren't all that impressed, and would've preferred if I'd worn my not-quite-EGL again. ::shrugs:: Can't please everyone...
I did a lot of wandering Friday. I found Soro, and chattered with her briefly. After a while, I found the girl who was to be buying the catgirl costume from me. I do hope she enjoyed it! She was supposed to be wearing it that evening, and calling me if she had any trouble. I didn't get a call, so I'm assuming everything went well. ::fingers crossed::
I met up with
Morganskye completely by accident, and we wandered over to
ladycelest's hotel room, where I helped her style her lemming wig. From there I met her roomies, Moo and Jake (or was it Jack? I suck at remembering names). They were all awesome. Morgan and I sat, drank and chatted in their room for a few hours before finally deciding we had to go our seperate ways.
With my newfound moneys, I was told by some people (including some D*Con staff) that I could purchase our Sunday tickets that night, when the line was short. Let's just say that was a fiasco. Had to go to the car to get Joel's ID, then treck to the Hyatt. Got inside, and as I'm filling out paperwork? They make a big reminder/announcement that they're only selling Friday badges and week long badges, nothing else. >.< So I truck back to the car crankily, badgeless.
Got home Friday. Joel and I didn't get to sleep until 2am. It was a good night.
Saturday we woke up at a decent hour, picked up Odango, and went to her hair appointment. We got turned around, and between everything got there JUST in time. While she was getting her hair done, Joel and I wandered to Dr. No's. Whitney (friend who works there) gave us some cash to get her a Torchwood shirt, and we chatted and bought comics. Ran to get lunch, then sat reading in the car until Odango's hair was done--it looks fab, btw. All three of us went to the dollar store after that (which meant Joel just sat in the car), then we decided to take Odango home so we could get to bed at a decent hour. We barely managed a decent hour, but waking up the next morning wasn't that bad...
We woke up and scrambled a bit. I think we actually managed to leave the house without forgetting anything. We were at the convention at 7:00 in the morning, waiting in line until 8:00 for registration to open. That didn't take too long, since we were in line so early, and we made our way to the dealers' room by 9:00. Unfortunately? Nothing, and I mean nothing, opened until 10:00. Oops! So we sat and chatted with nearby peoples. Then we started scouring the dealers rooms until about lunchtime. Back to the dealers rooms after lunch. Ummm... really most of our day was spent in the dealers' rooms come to think of it.
I got to see John, Lander,
soronuume and Company,
morganskye,
ladycelest,
athenachan,
cactaur and family, and a bunch of other people. Did I see you but not mention you? Shout out! I'm a dork who doesn't remember everything from two days ago. o.O
Joel bought a print from Peter (Beagle, author of Last Unicorn), and had it autograhped. It's gorgeous print of Lady Amalthea (sp) concept art. Yay more stuff to put on the walls! I didn't pick up anything for myself, as I didn't see anything I 'had to have' that was affordable, and everything else was just 'meh'. I know, odd, but it's true, which is kind of scary. I did pick up something small for my swap partner, though. Shhh, I'm not telling. ^_~
At around 6:00 I did a lemming march with
Morganskye and
ladycelest. It was a lot of fun, and I know we had a few pictures taken of us, and even more people telling us, basically, that we were the awesomest thing that ever did awesome. XD Hmm, wonder if we can find any pictures. I think the most fun was riding down the glass elevator as lemmings, myself being the only one with an umbrella, while the others 'fell to their deaths'. XD
Hmm, other than that... well, I really don't know what to say. Yesterday we got up late, went grocery shopping, came home, cleaned the kitchen, and then I watched Wrestling with Joel before going to bed. Nothing exciting, and we didn't get nearly enough done...
::taps her chin:: Hmm, what else to add...
Oh, I'm in the running for finalists again on WhoGets.
Go vote for me! I'd totally <3 to win a dvd. Sure, it's not as big as some prizes on there, but it's something! Heh. Yay free stuff...
::random:: At the dollar store, I picked up a "book on cd" of Dr. Doolittle. For a dollar! I listened to it on the way in to work today. It didn't even last the whole drive to work, but it was definitely good.
And I'd like to send a huge thank you again to all my friends who made D*Con a possibility for us this year!
