Lame Poser "Friends"

Nov 27, 2007 04:14

Social network sites like FaceBook are a great way to maintain some contact with friends, especially in this globetrotting era where friends are all over the world and it's a little tricky keeping track of where everyone is every year.  I especially like the newsfeeds because it's a way of sharing what's going on without the need to write lengthy emails. They also have a lot of potential for meeting new people, just as with other forums.

However, some people, or maybe they're just spammers or fake personas, seem intent on just adding "friends" without actually making any attempt to get to know the other party. Why would anyone I don't know want to add me as a "friend" without first dropping me a line? What's the point?!! I'm there to make friends and know more people but you can't be friends with someone you've not even communicated with.
