She's pulled back into the world of consciousness - awake, alert and aware of the coolness of the sea breeze, sharp and demanding, a lover's caress, from the open windows and notes his absence.
With a sigh, she forces her body to relax, to rest her head on her pillow and sleep.
He might be back, he might not be.
And wills her heart stop aching.
It's alright with her.
A long time ago, she might have felt hurt.
She had cried over him in the past - too many tears and broken sobs to recall in this one moment, but now it's different.
His absence is nothing new to her and neither is his abrupt departure.
She knows how this works.
She's not the one he loves.
