I could have sworn I wrote about this after the first time we went, but looks like a no.
This place is the prototypical New England greasy spoon. Middle-aged waitresses who are run off their feet, gratuitous Elvis posters and all. They don't have a lot of eggless breakfast stuff, so the first time we went I got pancakes -- I prefer The Talk of the Town's, right down the street. A big plus is location, right across from the School for the Deaf and near the Mallization but not of it. The homefries are ok, and the toast is just like my grandma used to make it; white bread, perfectly light brown, and arrives on the table already slathered in butter.
The second time back, this time with Barry, I got a grilled cheese, one of my absolute favorites. While I still maintain Friendly's is the best g.c. out there, this one was cheap, fast, and came with a side of good fries. They reminded me of the kind Burger King attempted a while back -- crunchy fries. A. & Barry seemed to enjoy their lunches too.
The menu is way too big, it could easily be cut in half and still over plenty of options. The soda comes in cans, and is pepsi products, so that's a downside for me personally.
While for breakfast I might prefer the variety of options for the egg-squamish I might get from Talk of the Town or Deluxe Town Diner, Victor's is cheap, fast, and has pleasant service. Not too shabby (except for the Elvis posters, those are definitely shabby).
