Singing the start of term blues...

Ugh, term starts tomorrow, and I am just full of Do Not Want.

September and October are the worst, the absolute worst. You get lulled into this lovely peaceful calm over the summer, when campus is empty and the library is quiet - and then September hits and it's just chaos. Enrolment takes place in the library, and we have about 150 library tours across the first week, and Freshers' Fair is taking place in the central atrium right outside the library - and it's just, the noise. It's beyond belief. You literally have to fight your way across the atrium to get anywhere, and it takes half an hour just to get a cup of coffee or lunch because there are people everywhere.

Once teaching starts and it all settles down again it's fine. I like it then. I like the buzz and the energy the students bring to the place. But that first week of term is just too much. It's one of the few occasions when everybody is all at the main campus at the same time, in the central building right outside the library tours. It may only be a week, but it's the Week From Hell.

Do not want.
