Damn, this show. I can't believe it went there. And not only did it go there, but it was planned right from the start; this was something that Toby Stephens knew about Flint all along. I can't believe they teased Flint's backstory out in tiny little nuggets and completely misdirected the audience about Mrs Barlow and Thomas Hamilton all this time

Hardly a spoiler - they're pirates! Rum, sodomy and the lash, and all that. Plus, other than Last Saskatchewan Pirate, it's the only song I know about pirates...
