So, already on day three and I can't keep to what I wanted. See, I want to do my readings and entries within a few hours of waking up. Usually I get up a good 2 hours before work which leaves me time to not only get ready but to pull my daily tarot. Today, however, upon waking up I ended up having to immediately go out and run errands/take roommates places. Basically, I already had a feel for the day before doing my reading, which I wasn't happy about. I could feel all sorts of out-of-place emotions. Not the mindset I would like to be in. *shrug* Oh well. Now I know, I guess. And knowing is half the battle.
So... it had to happen eventually right? Getting some sort of inverted card. There's so many interpretations of revered cards. Sometimes the energy is present but it's being blocked, or the meaning is opposite, or anything. Quite frustrating. From
learntarot.com: "There are no separate explanations for reversed cards. The meaning of a reversed card depends on what the card would mean if upright. A reversed card shows that a card's energy is present, but at a lower level. For some reason, the energy cannot express freely, normally or completely. It may be:
* still in its early stages
* losing force and power
* blocked or restricted
* incomplete
* inappropriate
* being denied
* only present in appearance"
So, yeah, right. Almost any reason. This is one of those things that it really depends on the reading and the other cards surrounding it to really make sense of I feel. Does anyone else who reads tarot have any opinions on inverted cards/how to deal with them?
Anyway, the Four of Wands in a normal position is generally about having just overcome an obstacle and that feeling of success that follows. However, it warns against complacency. That seems to be the general consensus anyway. The card art is pretty cool though. The main focus is what appears of the side of a castle wall, with the four wands forming "bars" on the top portion, kind of almost forming a window for archer's to shoot from. There is a phoenix flying overhead and there appears to be a sun in the sky (though it could also be a moon, I'm going sun due to the phoenix). Inverted, however, it almost looks like the four wands are going to shoot off and impale the phoenix. It looks much more imposing.
And I think that's where I'm going for inversion on this one. While the Four of Wands generally represents a success over the obstacle, I feel the inverted meaning is more like... in order to overcome, there is going to be an even bigger challenge to go through. It's going to take a lot of outta ya, which is going to make that victory all the sweeter, but tougher too. Even if those wands impale the phoenix, it will eventually get back up and just keep trying. ネバギバよね。(never give up) Or that sort of thing. Still a wholly positive card, I feel. *shrug* Anyone got any opinions on this interpretation/would like to share their own? じゃまた。
