He panicked, the voices in his head screaming at him, “NO, NO, NO. THIS IS NOT HAPPENING!”
It was a simple case of mortgage fraud. Nothing in the file indicated their suspect was violent. But the shady bank manager spooked and pulled a gun. The gun screamed as it was fired, and his partner went down.
He smelled copper and panicked. He was startled back to reality as he watched the crimson fluid gather beneath his partner. The bleeding had to be stopped. He began putting pressure on the wound as his partner screamed out in agony. He needed to remain calm, but the sounds coming from his partner echoed in his head.
He cradled his partner’s head in his lap as he screamed for help. Help, that needed to get there quickly. “Hey Buddy, hang in there, help is on the way”.
As he partner succumbed to the blood loss, he could hear the screaming of the ambulance sirens, praying they would arrive in time. “Please, please get here soon.”
